Too often, those experiencing poverty-related issues are stuck in positions where they are only able to react or absorb the effects of policies and social constructs that sustain or worsen the disparate realities. UpLIFT WV’s goal is to bring the voices of those experiencing poverty to the forefront - as voices of prevention, change-makers, and experts, sought to design the solutions urgently needed for West Virginians to thrive.

UpLIFT WV’s mission is to help those experiencing poverty achieve systemic change by:

1. Listening: Providing listening platforms that allow those in economic adversity to voice their experiences and identify issues that hold people in poverty.

2. Inviting: Inviting community members into Uplift WV positions of leadership, providing training to equip leaders with how to strategically plan, pursue, and engage issues identified in listening sessions.

3. Fulfilling: Leaders will guide the community to implement strategic plans by empowering those in need of systemic change to have seats at the table of decision-making.

4. Thriving: We commit to creating a community that moves beyond merely surviving to thriving; one that leans into challenges with real solutions and celebrates its successes through lives that embrace our inherent dignity.
